Do Computers Make Writing Easier?

Computers definitely make it easier to write. The main reason it is easier to write with a computer is the "spell check" feature available in programs and internet browsers. I can type out my thoughts as fast as I can think them and the spell checker will do things like capitalize words, correct common spelling mistakes and even double check my grammar. In fact I just used it to correct my spelling of the word definitely which for some reason I can never spell correctly.

Another great feature about writing with computers is the ability to save the document in one place. If I were to use a notebook, I would lose it along with all my work. I would then have to write a completely new paper and try to get it how I wanted it the first time I wrote it down. With a computer I can save multiple drafts of the document and edit as I see fit, and there is no way I would ever lose something as important (and expensive) as a computer. Most computers also have an "automatic save" feature as well to protect against lost work in case of a computer "crash."

Computers keep material in one centralized location. I do not need to go to a library and check out a research book if I have .pdf file of the material I need. I also can use the internet and use the research I find there to enhance my writing and gain knowledge of my topic all in one place.

I am thankful that computers are here to help me write because I have the worst handwriting I have ever seen. For some reason I kept the exact writing style I used in kindergarten. Turning in an A+ paper would be pointless if the teacher could not read all of my correct spelling and grammar.
